We are free to become who we want to be

We are free to become who we want to be
The only one stopping us is ourselves
So why do we prolong doing what does not make us whole
When there is actually nothing ceasing us from reaching our goals?

  • Hmmm sounds like the ‘American Dream’ but how true is it for most people? It is an inspiring ideal but how realistic is it to suggest that the only thing stopping us doing what we want is ourselves? There are a multitude of factors – eg: laws, social norms and taboos which prevent us from doing what we want. Could the people of North Korea agree with you? I doubt it. Still, it is an ideal which we should all aspire to. The problem is that liberty for all usually compromises equality for all and vice versa. The American Dream has proven to be true only for a small percentage and that is most likely how it will remain.

    • well stevenbudd, it could be as you say it, the American dream. However, in this case, I believe it is everyone’s dream. The multitude of factors stopping us from achieving our dreams are obstacles that everyone should go through. It is just that, it comes in different degrees, different forms. And sometimes we should fight for what we want or what we need, nobody said life is easy anyways. The key is to stand up for it.
